To our knowledge Betsy is the only person in Canada who has hands on experience in all facets of Emergency Management. With over 20 years’ experience in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, she also is an experienced Municipal Fire Chief and Community Emergency Management Coordinator.
Betsy is recognized as a results oriented person with extremely strong verbal and written communications skills. In 2011 she was awarded the prestigious Canadian Centre of Emergency Preparedness Lifetime Achievement Award of Excellence at the World Conference on Disaster Management.
In 2004 Betsy was the 2nd person in Canada to earn Masters level professional certification from the Disaster Recovery Institute International. She was one of the first female Fire Chiefs in Ontario.
She has been an instructor for the Disaster Recovery Institute International and DRI Canada since 1996.
Prior to leaving the Federal Government in 2005, Betsy was the Director of IT Security & Continuity Management in the Information Technology Branch of Canada Customs & Revenue Agency.
Possessed with a keen understanding of the challenges facing anyone responsible for business continuity, IT disaster recovery and emergency management Betsy is enjoying semi-retirement by giving back to a profession she loves through effective, high quality, yet reasonably priced consulting, training and facilitation services.
An extremely popular facilitator, trainer and conference speaker, Betsy has spoken at almost every international Business Continuity Conference in North America, the UK and Asia. She is also a published author for the Disaster Recovery Journal.
